Sacred Knowing 12/18/22

We continue our Advent series called “Reflecting the Sacred.” God invites us to sacred knowing, to move in God’s sacred wisdom, by deeply reflecting on our experiences, to listening and exploring in quietness with God, so we can hear that voice that brings us peace, like that angel’s voice that said to Joseph “do not be afraid.” Joseph shows us a sacred knowing that helped him put one foot in front of the other for the good of Mary and her Christ child, despite any doubts he might have had. So follow the voice of Jesus Christ in faithfulness, as all the brave and faithful witnesses who have gone on before you, like Joseph. Our Scripture passage is Matthew 1:18-25.

Sacred Places 12/11/22

As continue our Advent worship series entitled “Reflecting the Sacred,” today we are going to sacred places, as we are called to nurture the sacred gift of Christ in these places and hand it on, while God makes more and more sacred places through us. Like Mary as she burst out in song knowing that she was carrying the Christ child within her, our moments of revelation in sacred places also bring us deep joy. Our Scripture passage is Luke 1:46b-55.

Sacred People 12/4/22

In our Advent series entitled “Reflecting the Sacred” our Scripture passage highlights sacred people – even in the midst of John the Baptist’s tough message. Out of love, God made us in His image, and out of love God calls us to repent and grow in sacredness in Christ. So, let us emerge from the wilderness this Advent by letting Jesus Christ graciously burn off the chaff in our lives and in the life of the church through repentance, so that he produces the finest of sacred grain in us and around us. Our passage is Matthew 3:1-13.
